Worst ZimHipHop producers I have worked with

Before I even go further I should start by rephrasing the topic to producers I paid but don't deliver as promised. As a rapper that is trying to emerge out of the underground, also in the Diaspora to get little heads turning. I thought of working with the Zim-Hip-hop credited beat makers and producers. My previous album saw me working with Mclyne and I have received a bit more fans out of it. This year was supposed to be a step further and even go deeper in my pockets and go to the A-listed producer themselves.

Anonzi Xander 

I paid him around November last year (2016) so I could be able to kick start my second phase/album, after a long struggle to contact him he sent the instrumental around March it was half a beat so I can record and he will finish when he gets the vocals. Recorded in April and that's when the waiting game began this guy can dodge people like a Nigerian scammer 'I beg Tufiakwa'. I'm not sure if his reason was that I'm in the diaspora or he had is own project he wants to promote and push first before mine is out but he disrupted my whole album because as much as I got that track I could have gone on with the rest of the project. I wanted to taste the market with that single to test if the combination worked and decide to work with him on more tracks as I did with Mclyne on my previous album.

Will I work with him again, it depends if he finally releases the track and it's something a person can't wait for more than half a year.
UPDATE : He came back to me in September to tell me he could not finish the production because he couldn't sync the files I send and promised he will refund part of the money in October, gave me the final instrumental that mean I will work on a Xander Beat for this year's album (Going All The Way). It feels good especially that he said he will support the track, at least I can trust he still pushes his work.

He is much more of a friend of a friend. Once worked with him on a song called TAKE ME TO THE STARS, available on SoundCloud, his case is a bit different because when I fast paid him it was for his services as to record and master Verse'tyle's verse on a song that should have been on the album last year (From Second Tier). The song didn't end up coming to light making me abound the project altogether but the other person that was supposed to be on that song I had to make it up to him so I worked with him on a song to be released on the following album (Going All The Way). Since the none commitment of the female rapper, I put the instrument aside and went back to FunF, topped up the money so I can at least get a dope beat from him but ever since he won his award he can't be reached even after you made business with him.  

Will I work with him again, well the probability is there of working with him? I love the way he makes his beats sound so Rap like the 90's era but the way I will do business with him will be different of course will be more face to face in the Basement Studio.

Ziggy Zee 

On the previous album, I also had this similar problem of that I am facing now but the difference is Ziggy Zee charges a quarter of what Xander demands thus thought Mr. Bhachi will be professional. The two tracks on the previous album that had beats from Ziggy should have been also produced by him but I ended up linking with Ndocci in Bindura to finish the project days before the project was about to upload online. I don't even know how these producers make this disappearing acts without fulfilling their contacts, in Business, a contract is "a written or spoken agreement, especially one concerning employment, sales" 

Will I work with him again, we have found our differences and I am working with him on one of my tracks for this current album. I will also feature on his own project later this year just to show I don't hold hard feelings.

On the other hand, allow me to acknowledge some of the best beat makers and producers I have worked with, who I found are both trustworthy and get at their jobs

Mclyne Beats - he is a Harare producer give him a concept he can work his way around to execute it, on my previous album, current (soon to be released) and the next on obviously.

Trap-C - This guy can sample anything into your Hip-hop he made something from Urban Groves and a song from the legend System Tazvida on the current Album (soon to be released).

Pepzee - a Masvingo beat maker that can surely be a contender in his realm against bigger names in the capitals. He can make a dope beat from the imagination of your beatboxing and recreate the feeling you want to hear and beyond.

It's always good to have a great connection between each element of the chain to make a strong industry let the DJ have stronger bonds with local artists, let promoters have a better understanding with the fan base, rappers have a connection with thier  producers and let's all allow the ZimHop industry to grow as a sub genre of Hiphop. If we all live like we don't need the other link we are breaking the chain to a bigger vision. The secret to Zim Dancehall is that everything is connected and runs some how smoothly from Producers - chanters - DJ - promoters - fans.

Interview with Exposed Vocals

EXPOSED VOCALS

Anesu Godo better known as AGE McSoul was born in Bulawayo the second largest city in Zimbabwe, raised in Bindura and moved to Australia in 2012 where he is doing his studies. 

He was introduced to different styles of music that he ended up being involved in. Performing at school in Variety shows and also being in a choir at church and high school. First track in the studio recorded was in 2009 but the one that made noise in his hometown was the "My Style remix" in 2010. After many singles' in-between AGE made an EP with a producer called Elbrezzy titled Mafaro Atanga in 2014. In 2016 he realised a 12 track Album called From Second Tier that followed up with a 3 city tour in Zimbabwe between June and July.

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become a rapper?

AGE McSoul: First of all respect to Exposed Vocals and the movement, they way I started my road to rap is a bit funny. I was born in the second capital city of Zimbabwe called Bulawayo, the city of Kings and queens. Grew up in Bindura, Zimbabwe and currently in Sydney Australia. When I was I high school I could not like lip sing to popular songs from G Unit, Terror Squad, and NWA so I end up making my own lyrics freestyling to friends and ended up hitting the stage at a High school talent show. The second time I was on the show I fell off the stage people thought I will stop but I still went back on.

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name AGE McSoul? What was your inspiration behind it?

AGE McSoul: it was a word play of all the name I got from my parents so at first when I was still in High school I called myself GAME that’s when I saw a video of The G.A.M.E (G Unit) and I knew I had to change that’s when I played with the letter and came up with AGE M. Now it has more meaning Amazing Guy Ever and McSoul simply mean son of Soul.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

AGE McSoul: It’s a changing world without online music sharing some guy that downloaded my song in Netherland wouldn’t know my music but on the downside, there is not much revenue that can be collected. Yes, I allow some projects to be free especially the songs that I don’t pay much like when I work with free studio time and a free beat then hey get my bars for free.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

AGE McSoul: Funny thing is I still consider myself a start-up, considering I do my works part time and I’m not signed up so I pay other people a lot. My advice is you have to risk it, I went back to Zimbabwe and organised my own tour around June-July University break I didn’t expect much but I got U$150 hard cash from one guy that liked the performance to me it shows if u are just doing music in you bedroom not going out there you will really won’t go anywhere

Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?

AGE McSoul: My first mistake I have made as I previously said I fell off the stage and I did nothing. That was back when I was 15 but nowadays the mistake I think happens regularly is being thirsty on stage when I’m own my 4^th track all I do is ask the crowd for a can and it works but lesson learnt will always go on stage with a bottle.

Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?

AGE McSoul: The Winter Warm Up tour for my album FROM SECOND TIER was my first tour that I organised so I don’t have much to say but I will tell any artist meeting new fans and stages is something captivating every performance is different from the other even if you are singing the same songs its all about your hype and the crowds reaction. Will do some shows over here in Australia soon because I think I just get addicted to the stage once u really feel it.

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather song writing inspiration? What is your usual song writing process?

AGE McSoul: I sing about what’s happening to me, my hood or help out on random topics if it’s a feature. My process of song writing is either I get an instrument that provokes me to write or during my quite ours I have an idea of a chorus and an instrument to be made thus my album is not our usual copy and paste style like other rappers.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

AGE McSoul: I don’t have a website as for now was planning to do that early next year because that’s where most of my visual works will come out. I use a lot of platforms its more of searching me up. Most of my old works are on Reverbnation and SoundCloud.

Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?

AGE McSoul: I listen to a lot of genres so on my mp3 all the songs are there for a reason if it is not its deleted but we got a different taste so u might find one song and start laughing.

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

AGE McSoul: That will be the investment I was waiting for, I go to the best producers out there plus videographers and come back with a Blu-Ray Album (double DVD with documentaries) that had a year being focused on.

Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?

AGE McSoul: Nothing planned as to say but considering improving the booth, I’m working on a hustle budget nothing too fancy.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

AGE McSoul: If I haven’t got a platinum sell it means I’m yet to have the working formula but it is all about online for now, Facebook, clips on Instagram, SnapChat, Vine  sending music on WhatsApp and all social corners I can pass it own that is what is working best for me currently.

Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?

AGE McSoul: Perform in New York with Jay-Z because I would like to hit the stage with the Living legends and hope I get signed.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

AGE McSoul: I just dropped an EP and Album to online stores in June so now I’m working on a free mixtape to sing about the situations happening to my fellow brethren in Zimbabwe to show them there is still unity and support throw out the world from every Zimbabwean abroad in the diaspora.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

AGE McSoul: I’m still a Student so I don’t know what tomorrow holds but I got a vision to do some commercial farming, starting up a private radio in Bindura and get into some property management. Just the usual things of hustling in any way.

Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?

AGE McSoul: According to my iTunes account the first album I purchased was myself and the reason was I didn’t know how to upload my songs on the iPad. But physically the first album I bought was from Stunner back in the 2004’s where he was a pioneer or Zim Hip-hop with a lot of other artists that just went off the grid like Major Playaz. The reason was simply that the album had a lot of hits.

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

AGE McSoul: I give Music a rest after a big project because I will be having some writers block but after some weeks I just get back to it and start writing so it's just part of my everyday life.

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?

AGE McSoul: I already finished 2016 the album is out as promised did a couple of shows so we might be looking forward of and award or two. However, 2017 will be a blast  I will be dropping videos of new songs or old just expect good music.

AGE McSoul: Thank you for your time and hopefully 2018 I should be touring UK and USA.

The rebound track

After the track Right Thing everyone was like i came in a different angle, so suppose you skipped the track on all the sites i posted it on better go back and start from there then come back to have your mind blown. The second track of the year titled Mukanditsvaga Muchandiwana is basically a track i had to prove to this group of guys that I AM NOT MEEK  MILL i can stand my ground and on the underhand i was also address to the one with the big mouth that he kind just open his mouth without knowing what's happening.

Three days ago I gave people a teaser and it ended up being a good move. I got people charging their phones waiting for the release and it finally came out so we will see how it will go. It went on with two different versions if you want the one with the skit you can inbox AGE McSoul. So the official teaser is the one below.

Do the RIGHT THING #NOxeNOphobia

The current situation in South Africa is really painful, its like Abel and Cain all over again. The Zulu are killing the foreigners which is making more of an African issue because its not their first time and they are still doing this kind of stuff. Boko Harama might have been messed up but the brothers down under are creating enemies with the rest of Africa, from Zimbabwe to Somalia, Nigeria, Ghana, Mozambique even Uganda is feeling the pain. I have no power to tell the king how to lead his people or even the president of the country but if one person does something in the name of a larger picture you better have to be clean that you are trying to prevent it rather than let the blood shed in the streets of Mama Africa.

I just hope this wont lead to any civil war that involves all Africa against South Africa the war might just end up involving other counties leading to world war 3 (WW3). So i did this track but it wasn't for the Xenophobia attacks because it was recorded like 2 weeks prior the happening but it just goes alone. Its called WE ARE DOING THE #RIGHTTHING

Other point the song was in a competition and I was eliminated at the first round (Hip Hop Beats SA) March/April competition maybe because am ZIMBO lol I just like singing no matter am number 100 but if people listen to me.

2015 run down

The month of resolutions and reflections is almost over and I have decided to do an Album called "Wrong Side Mixtape" it will have a lot of changes from the previous project I did last year (2014) ‪#‎MafaroAtanga‬

Expectations for ‪#‎WSM‬

• Blessmore Mclynebeats Matikiti - will have two dope beats from my homeboy.
• Whizzla beats have already gave me a Cypher beat but due some difficulties I think it will come on this Album as a Skit instead of what I was to do.
• Remix of a song will be done with cooperation of individuals.
• Features are still in talks but will like to work with various artist.
• Might do with some of the once based in Australia if all goes well, am a busy man now but just have to my passion 
• The cover art will be something different will work with a artist like a painter so it will be special.
• This album will be making its way to radio at the end of the year when i go back to Zimbabwe to do the needed paper work.
• ZimHipHop should be to the world so I will make a standard you will never forget.

Initially the organisers added me on the poster as AULK (Aggressive Underground Lethal King), which is my persona in deeper hip hop that is another side of AGE, that acknowledge himself as a king. The matter was fixed and i was back on the poster as AGE even though everyone kind of find my last name difficult to say all the time. I was told i will perform a month before the show started so you just have to imagine how much work i had put into it, i even recorded a new song called One I Need which is a dedication to the special girl that is always an addition to my life. The song will be available on the release of the E.P Mafaro Atanga on the 1st of Dec.

AGE Live in Action

Back to the story, performing in an audience which was not a Zimbabwean crowd was something new to me despite the effort of making a Afro hip-hop song the nerves where still real. I was supposed to be the artist performing after the break but some other artist didn't show up so i ended up begin the curtain raiser the Zimbabwean among the Ghanaian, Nigerian and other Africans. first song Ndiwe Wandinoda went well in fact i made them clap, then i though One I Need i will make them dance i was disappointed with the tough crowd. In my mind i still think Afro-Australia need more shows that make the African community unite and feel happy together because it was all smiles and joy after Basketmouth and Carl Joshua Ncube did their stand up.
